Looking for an alternative to traditional “sit-down” therapy? While the privacy and comfort of a formal therapy office space is preferred by many, a growing number of clients would much rather participate in therapy while being active. Run Walk Talk provides a modality for healing while also engaging our physical being.
Run Walk Talk was designed and created to help people who struggle in traditional indoor therapy sessions from seated positions.
Run Walk Talk is a form of therapy wherein the counselor and client run or walk together. This is a collaborative and dynamic way of working. The integration of forward motion of running and walking, within the therapeutic context, helps soothe the fear centers of the brain and help the client feel safe, even as they are talking about past events that may have made them feel scared or traumatized.
How it works
The typical session begins by meeting at a designated location, usually a park or greenway, for the 50-minute session. The run is catered to your physical ability, and walking is OK. The last minutes are a cool down and reflection time. All of this is done while participating in therapeutic conversation.
Sessions will be held in all types of weather, except severe. No running experience is required.
